General Data Protection Regulation – for the EU and the UK

Hosted by the Alabama International Trade Center and Freevacy Ltd for a GDPR Webinar

GDPR gives every European Union Citizen the right to know how their personal data is being used, stored, protected, transferred, and deleted.

No matter your location, GDPR will apply if your organization sells its goods or services directly to individuals in the EU or is ‘tracking’ them for analytics or advertising purposes. This means that US companies that are doing any business in the UK, EU, or have UK/EU residents visiting their sites (website, social, etc.), must comply.

Topics:

  • Know your data flows   – understanding the scope of UK and EU GDPR.
  • Are you a controller or a processor?
  • GDPR Article 27 requirement to appoint a representative when offering goods, services or monitoring the behavior of individuals located in the UK/EU GDPR
  • What does accountability mean under GDPR – looking at key elements and obligations under UK/EU GDPR
  • UK and EU GDPR transfers to third countries or international organization requirements – what to consider and the differences between the UK and EU
  • Personal Data Breach notification requirement and supervisory authority enforcement

On the Horizon:

  • UK’s Data Protection and Digital Information Bill
  • EU e-Privacy Regulation
  • Proposed US & EU Trans-Atlantic data privacy framework
  • Proposed UK & US  Data adequacy partnership
