From Local Streets to Lasting Legacy: The Rollin’ Trapp’s Success Story
The Rollin’ Trapp is a family-owned food truck business built on faith, family, and flavor with a shared commitment to serving the Wiregrass area. Operated by Tellies & Felecia Blackmon and Jonah & Kristie Overall, this team of four co-owners has turned their passion for soul food into a thriving community staple. While they do not open daily, The Rollin’ Trapp primarily serves through private catering, special events, and regional festivals—bringing their signature dishes to where the people are.
Through one of the Blackmons’ daughters—a proud Troy University graduate who spoke highly of the SBDC—the team discovered the Alabama SBDC at Troy University.
Center Director Juliana Bolivar worked with co-owner Felecia Blackmon to define a scope of work that could support their long-term goals and then connected her with advisor Kerstin Stokes for hands-on business financial guidance.
Kerstin helped implement and streamline their QuickBooks system, reviewing financial reports, correcting balance sheets, tagging transactions by location, and building tools to track profitability. “Using QuickBooks has been a life changer in our bookkeeping efforts,” said the team.
To strengthen their marketing, co-owner Felecia Blackmon enrolled in the “Empower by GoDaddy” Digital Marketing Cohort hosted by the Alabama SBDC at Alabama State University. The six-week program provided practical training in branding, social media, and customer engagement—helping the team feel more confident in managing their business effectively.
Through the connections they made within the Troy University community, the team also gained the opportunity to serve as a vendor at athletic events—a major boost to their brand visibility and community presence.
The Rollin’ Trapp’s journey is one of faith, teamwork, and steady growth. With a strong support network, sharpened business tools, and a unified vision, they continue to serve up excellence—one plate at a time.
