Manufacturing & Onshoring Resource Hub
The Alabama SBDC is committed to restoring American economic dominance and national security by empowering small manufacturers and providing targeted support for manufacturers who are looking to reshore operations, expand domestic production, or navigate new domestic and export opportunities.

Made In America - Made in Alabama
In 2025, the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced its new Made in America Manufacturing Initiative, which commits to a deeper collaboration and coordination of federal agency resources designed to:
- Increase Access to Capital
- Improve Opportunities for Public and Private Investments in Support of Manufacturing in America
- Help Small Businesses Export Their Products on a Global Scale
The Alabama SBDC has been helping manufacturers pursue these goals since 1980; we have full-time teams dedicated to Capital Access and Export Assistance, and look forward to working with your small manufacturing business.
As part of this initiative, we would like to highlight some of the services that we provide that will allow SBA to achieve its goal:
- One-on-One Advising: No-cost, confidential consulting from experienced business advisors.
- Export Readiness / Export Growth: Foreign customers purchased almost $28 Billion of goods and services from Alabama last year. The Alabama International Trade Center – an SBDC program – provides the consulting and customized training to help you tap into this lucrative segment. Your SBDC Trade Specialist can help you explore STEP grants, market research, trade mission opportunities, and international market entry strategies.
- Onshoring & Reshoring Support: The Trade Center provides guidance for companies that would like to explore the steps involved in returning manufacturing operations or expanding domestic capacity in response to supply chain disruption or cost advantages. Additionally, the Trade Center can help you explore export opportunities.
- Capital Access & Growth Incentives: Our Capital Access team can help you identify sources for growth funding, which could include federal and state loan programs, investment tax credits, and manufacturing-specific incentives.
- Workforce & Training Solutions: The State of Alabama has robust workforce development programs and technical training opportunities, and your SBDC Business Advisor can connect you with the most appropriate option.
